For the last two years, the homeschool community here in southern United States has organized homeschool conventions for Muslim Home Educators. This year, the entire event was recorded and published on one of our partner websites(if you haven’t already checked out, Please do check out http://www.muslimhomeeducators.com/)
I had the pleasure of making a presentation on the topic “Building a Strong Foundation in Homeschooling”. The organizers have graciously given me the permission to share this content here on my blog for free. So here it is, I am really excited to share this with you all. Please leave a comment and let me know if this is helpful to you in any way. Read more about the topic below.
What does it take to build a strong foundation in homeschooling?
Is it a solid curriculum? Is it a workable schedule. Is it reading about educational philosophies and methodologies? What exactly do we need to get a good head start.
While all of the above is important, more important is having clarity of thought and purpose. Having a vision and a solid understanding of education itself. This video touches upon a few deeper concepts which help in developing the right mindset.
This video explores aspects of homeschooling and how we should ideally approach it. Home education is a serious commitment and it can quickly become overwhelming if we do not understand why we are doing it?
Understanding the principles of parenting, tarbiyah and education can empower us to serve our children better and make bold decisions when needed. This is a long and hard journey and it calls for some difficult decision making. At such times, our ability to listen to our parental instinct and sound knowledge of how education works comes to our rescue.
This video also touches upon homeschooling and parenting with an Islamic perspective adding relevance to the Muslim homeschooling parents who are often struggling to find resources in the world of home education.
