Instill Independence In Learning : The Early Childhood Years
Now that sounds like a lofty goal?
Well, it is but we will break it down into smaller steps and talk about simple changes, ideas we can apply in our homes to build this skill step by step. My children have challenged me over the years with their unique needs and this has compelled me to learn about child development, different educational philosophies and parenting in general. I will be sharing my personal experiences, what worked and what did not work at each stage of development with my own children. I have seen some tangible results and I will share the simplest, easiest of ideas to give you tools that will build some skills with ease.
How will this help?
I interact with a lot of homeschooling mothers(through the support group I run and even outside of it) and I can attest to the fact that many of them intuitively know what is the right approach, what is really working and what is not. They usually know how they can make teaching easier and simpler for their students and themselves. But they keep receiving mixed messages from everywhere else. Whether it is well meaning friends and family who make you feel inadequate, curriculum companies who seem to offer a quick fix to all the problems if only you can stick to their schedule or whether it is their own insecurities which makes them doubtful about their choices.
My intention to make this video series is to share practical wisdom, simple and easy to apply techniques and give you real reasons why these strategies work. I also hope that this will help you trust your own instincts and your inner voice and not rely on information coming from outside, filter the noise from useful information and most importantly start observing your own children and have the confidence to serve their needs. Insha’Allah
What should I do next?
Watch this video in its entirety. This is the first in a series of videos and this one specifically talks about the Early Childhood, what does neuroscience say about a child’s developing brain and what are some of easiest activities/toys and learning tools you can apply at this age. While watching make some notes and add your own personal reflections and then start applying the simple techniques and observe your child. See for yourself, what is working for ‘You’ and ‘Your Child’. Note down your observations and improvise based on your assessment. There will be a series of videos coming up to help you get some clarity. These will help you make your job as an educator simpler, easier and more efficient. I will share the most effective techniques I have learnt which gave me success and ease in my journey.
The tools/strategies that I have learnt from different education philosophies over the years. I will follow every few videos with a LIVE Q and A session on the weekend.
You can also join our monthly Homeschool Support Meetings for mothers live broadcast. I host these meetings on first Tuesday of every month, we have been meeting locally since December 2017. I try and bring in some amazing women from our local community who share their ideas and expertise and conduct workshops to help other mothers.
