Open Ended Play
This is a continuation of the discussion we started last week on ‘Instilling Independence In Learning’ where we focused on the early years. We talked about the importance of play and briefly talked about open ended activities. Infact all the suggested activities/play I mentioned in that session fall under this category. Here is the link to that blogpost and video if you missed it.
In this session, I briefly shared some of the benefits of this kind of play based on my limited knowledge and experience. In addition to some of the open ended play ideas I shared in the last session, I shared some other toys from our home. I did this to help you make better decisions when investing in an activity/toy. I made many decisions in the past which have proved to be expensive and unnecessary. I have had to purge all that junk and put more thought behind what I buy and make available for my children. I hope this video helps you in avoiding those mistakes. Here is the video where I talk about all this.
If you have any questions regarding the toys or anything related to the talk please leave a comment. I would also love to hear from you about valuable toys/activities or ideas for this kind of play from your experience. Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
